On Sept. 13, 2017, 蜜桃直播 (蜜桃直播) School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Founding Dean Kathy Webster announced that Bernard Tyrrell will serve as the program鈥檚 associate dean for industry and pharmacy relations.
With 34 years of experience in industry and another six years in academia, Tyrrell most recently served as the associate dean and department chair of pharmaceutical business and administrative sciences at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (MCPHS) University. He also held roles as associate professor and program director while leading the university鈥檚 fellowship program.
鈥淏ernie brings a wealth of experience to this role,鈥� Webster said. 鈥淗e enhanced the quality of the programs at MCPHS and we are excited for his future contributions here at 蜜桃直播. Bernie is poised to help us develop leaders in the healthcare industry.鈥�
Prior to his time at MCPHS University, Tyrrell was a senior global pharmaceutical commercial leader focused on delivering the key elements of marketing strategy and business development within specialty medicines, especially oncology.
鈥淭here is a tremendous marketplace demand to prepare pharmacists for all types of settings within industry,鈥� Tyrrell said. 鈥淚t is our job to expose students early on to the wide range of opportunities through internships and experiential education. I am excited to help 蜜桃直播 students broaden the scope of their career pathways within the field of pharmacy.鈥�
Tyrrell has vast experience, within the United States and the European Union, in pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, and Otsuka. He also has experience with biotech companies such as Oncor and Biotechnology General, where he developed extensive expertise in commercializing new and existing brands within multiple therapeutic areas.
A registered pharmacist in the state of Massachusetts, Tyrrell earned his bachelor鈥檚 in pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston, and an MBA at Bryant University in Providence, RI. The first half of Tyrrell鈥檚 career included a 20-year stint at Eli Lilly and Company.
Tyrrell is joining 蜜桃直播 one month after the School of Pharmacy introduced its Class of 2021 at the fourth annual White Coat Ceremony. The first 蜜桃直播 pharmacy graduates will receive their degrees in May 2018.
